Almost Done: Chelsea Set To Officially Announce Spectacular Return Of This Record Breaker To Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are reportedly on the brink o announcing a deal which could see former Chelsea captain John Terry to return to his boyhood club to become their Under 23 manager, according to the Sun.
The former England international has been out of the game since leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season.
He turned down a move to Spartak Moscow at the 11th hour and has also been linked with a move to Derby who are managed by Terry’s former teammate Frank Lampard.
It is understood Terry will sign a deal worth £800,000 a year to return to Stamford Bridge.
He will replace Jody Morris who has left to join Lampard at the Rams.
He is currently learning his coaching badges and has previously mentioned that he dreams of managing Chelsea in the future.
He said: “I want to be the manager of Chelsea one day but that is a five to eight-year plan.”
The Chelsea legend made 717 appearances for the club, winning 14 majors and is known as ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ on a banner at the home ground.
A source at The Sun said: “John has made no bones about the fact he’s keen to get into management and obviously Chelsea has always been the dream.
“He has been in talks with the boss for the past few weeks and has verbally agreed the deal.
“It will only come to fruition though once he has finished his badges. An as-yet undecided manager will take over in the interim.”
